Blazing, swimming, and reading

We finished the second round of swimming lessons last week. Josh and Andrew really enjoyed getting in the water everyday.
Right around Josh's birthday last year Curtis challenged him to read The Book of Mormon before he turned 8 and was baptized. Josh has diligently read two pages a day and today he finished!! For those of you that don't know The Book of Mormon is 531 pages long and not the easiest book to read due to the biblical type language it is written in. We are so proud of him and his efforts. On top of reading The Book of Mormon everyday Josh has read almost 11, 200+ page books this summer. I guess a lot of time in the car and no friends in a new place allow for a lot of reading time. We love you Josh! We hope you always enjoy reading.

  2. Josh, WOW I think that is great you stuck with reading the Book of Mormon! What a great goal to reach. And now you can start again. That is the great thing about scriptures, you continue to learn new things each time you read them. GREAT JOB!

  5. Josh has read the Warrior series 1-6, the New Prophecy Warriors series 1-3(working on 4), the Gaurdians of Ga'Hoole 1-2(working on 3), and the first in the Seekers series. Warrior and Seekers are written by Erin Hunter and the Gaurdians by Kathryn Lasky. He says his favorite are the 1st Warrior series. Of course he's also read some pokemon and magic tree house. Josh wants to know if Marcus has read anything good lately.

  6. Marcus has been reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Holes by Louis Sachar, Henry Huggins by Beverly Cleary, Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo (currently reading). He enjoyed reading Bailey School Kids series, Magic Tree House series and Wiley and Grampa series by Kirk Scroggs but he can get through them really quickly now. I am trying to get him to read more challenging books, so we are excited to try these suggestions. If you read anything else good, Josh, let us know.
